People Tree is crowdfunding to develop and grow their new collections with new materials that give the label more variety, more design possibilities and better fit while still maintaining the ethical, Fair Trade credentials that have defined and motivated People Tree for 25 years. For SS17 People Tree is introducing Tencel® in their collections, of which the pieces will be produced by People Tree’s long term production partner Creative Handicrafts in Mumbai. Working with Tencel® is a chance to up skill the workers and provide them with a greater range of fabrics they can offer to their clients, providing more business opportunities and, eventually, more job opportunities within the community.

People Tree was founded 25 years ago and is a pioneer in Fair Trade and sustainable fashion.  The market for ethical fashion is growing, and fabric innovations are giving fair fashion labels more options, and more ways to wear sustainable without sacrificing style. Many brands (including High Street brands) are adopting these fabrics but are yet to match the move towards sustainability with transparency and ethical working conditions.

Tencel®, a functional fibre made from wood pulp in a unique closed loop process, has the fit and drape that imitates high street fabrics, without the ecological impact. By pairing this fabric with ethical, Fair Trade production methods, People Tree developed a very small capsule collection for coming Spring/Summer ’17. The response from wholesalers and buyers has been amazing, the demand is there!  Now the label asks for your help to branch out and expand their range so they can offer more choice, a greater variety of styles and, most importantly, greater Fair Trade impact!

Want to pre-order your own Tencel® capsule collection for next summer, sit at a design meeting at the People Tree HQ in London or visit People Tree’s production partner ‘Creative Handicrafts’ in Mumbai yourself? These are just a few examples of how you can reward yourself by backing People Tree’s crowdfunder today.
